How to stay accountable when budgeting

Budgeting

Making the budget is one thing, but sticking to it? How can you keep yourself accountable?

Creating a budget is a great first step, but now it’s time for the hard part: holding yourself accountable. Here are some strategies you can use.

Make it a habit to track your spending! Start logging all your income and expenses. This is easier with tools like my free Build Your Budget template. Keep up to date with your budget and you’ll be more aware of your money and more motivated to stick to the plan.

It’s also good to share your goals with someone you trust to keep you on track. When you join Money Mission, you get a whole team of people, including me, in your corner, cheering you on and keeping you accountable!

And of course, a reward is always great motivation. You can set up a reward system for keeping up with your budget. This doesn’t have to mean just sticking to the budget. You can reward yourself for tracking expenses for the month, or for staying under budget in certain categories.
